How are the ratings calculated?

We use a sophisticated algorithm that uses information from a variety of information sources to determine the Webutation rating scores.
A big part is the feedback that webutation users leave in their ratings and comments.

Additionally we use the information from numerous other trusted sources to access a website´s trustworthiness:

• tools like Google Safebrowsing or Norton Antivirus to check for malicious software and other dangerous elements
• phishing and malware blacklists like phishtank.com to warn you against scamming sites
• WOT (Web of Trust) Website Rating Community

Webutation Add-on

The webutation add-on uses a simple color system to warn you whenever you are visiting a potentially dangerous website. The trustworthiness of the site you are visiting is displayed by a small icon in your browser toolbar. By clicking the icon you can look up the website on webutations.net where you get more detailed information about security risks and where you can also leave your own rating for this website.
